2 Chronicles 18 (vv. 1-4)

Jehoshaphat, a wealthy and honored king of Judah, visits Ahab in Samaria after their royal families have been joined by marriage. Ahab receives him lavishly, with the abundance of slaughtered sheep and cattle showing political hospitality and royal pressure. In the midst of the feast and diplomacy, Ahab urges Jehoshaphat to join him in attacking Ramoth Gilead, while Jehoshaphat agrees but insists that they first seek the counsel of the LORD.

유다의 부유하고 존귀한 왕 여호사밧은 왕실 혼인으로 두 집안이 연결된 뒤 사마리아에서 아합을 방문한다. 아합은 많은 양과 소를 잡아 성대한 잔치를 베풀며 정치적 환대와 왕으로서의 압박을 동시에 드러낸다. 잔치와 외교의 한가운데서 아합은 길르앗 라못을 치러 함께 나가자고 권하고, 여호사밧은 동의하면서도 먼저 여호와의 뜻을 구하자고 요구한다.
