1 Samuel 6 (vv. 7-11)

Following the priests' instructions, the Philistines prepare a new cart and bring two cows that have calved and have never been yoked. Their calves are shut away, heightening the improbability of what will happen next. The ark of the LORD is placed on the cart, and beside it a chest holding the golden rats and golden tumors is carefully set as a guilt offering.

제사장들의 지시에 따라 블레셋 사람들은 새 수레를 준비하고, 새끼를 낳았지만 한 번도 멍에를 메어 본 적 없는 두 암소를 데려온다. 그 송아지들은 따로 가두어 두어, 곧 일어날 일이 더욱 놀랍게 보이게 한다. 여호와의 궤는 수레 위에 올려지고, 그 곁에는 금 쥐와 금 독종이 담긴 상자가 속건제물로 조심스럽게 놓인다.
