Description
Phinehas’s pregnant wife hears that the ark has been captured and that her husband and father-in-law are dead. Overcome with grief, she goes into labor and gives birth as she herself is dying. Surrounded by attending women, she names the child Ichabod, declaring that the glory has departed from Israel because the ark of God has been taken.
