1 Samuel 26 (vv. 5-7)

After learning Saul’s exact location, David goes to the camp and sees Saul lying at the center, with Abner nearby and the army encamped around them. David asks who will go down with him into the camp, and Abishai volunteers. Under cover of night, the two men slip into the sleeping camp and stand near Saul, whose spear is planted in the ground beside his head. The scene is filled with stealth, danger, and the astonishing vulnerability of the king surrounded by sleeping soldiers.
