1 Samuel 25 (vv. 36-42)

Abigail returns to find Nabal feasting like a king and drunk with self-indulgence. At daybreak she tells him what happened; his heart fails and he becomes like stone, and about ten days later the LORD strikes him and he dies. David then sends for Abigail to become his wife, and she responds with humility, rising from a house of folly into a new future.

아비가일이 돌아오니 나발은 왕 같은 잔치를 벌이며 술에 취해 흥청거리고 있다. 날이 밝아 그녀가 모든 일을 알리자 그의 마음이 쇠하여 돌같이 되었고, 약 열흘 뒤 여호와께서 그를 치시니 그가 죽는다. 이후 다윗은 아비가일을 아내로 맞기 위해 사람을 보내고, 그녀는 겸손히 응답하며 어리석음의 집에서 새로운 미래로 나아간다.
