1 Samuel 17 (vv. 17-27)

Sent by his father Jesse with bread, grain, and cheese for his brothers, David arrives at the camp just as the armies are taking their positions. He leaves his supplies, runs to the battle line, and hears Goliath’s challenge for himself. While seasoned soldiers retreat in fear, David burns with holy indignation and asks why this disgrace against the armies of the living God is being tolerated.

아버지 이새의 심부름으로 빵과 볶은 곡식과 치즈를 가지고 온 다윗은 군대가 전열을 갖추는 순간 진영에 도착한다. 그는 짐을 맡긴 뒤 전선으로 달려가 직접 골리앗의 도전을 듣는다. 노련한 병사들이 두려움에 물러서는 가운데, 다윗은 살아 계신 하나님의 군대를 향한 이 모욕에 거룩한 분노를 품고 왜 이런 수치를 그대로 두느냐고 묻는다.
