1 Samuel 16 (vv. 1-3)

While still grieving over Saul, Samuel receives a new command from the LORD. He is told to fill his horn with oil and go to Bethlehem, where God has chosen one of Jesse’s sons to be king. Fearful that Saul may kill him if the mission is discovered, Samuel is instructed to take a heifer and announce a sacrifice, beginning a secret and sacred journey under divine direction.

사울을 위해 여전히 슬퍼하던 사무엘은 여호와로부터 새로운 명령을 받는다. 그는 기름 뿔을 채워 베들레헴으로 가라는 말씀을 듣는데, 그곳에서 하나님은 이새의 아들들 가운데 한 사람을 왕으로 택하셨다. 이 일이 드러나면 사울이 자신을 죽일까 두려워하던 사무엘은 암송아지를 데리고 가서 제사를 드리러 왔다고 말하라는 지시를 받으며, 하나님의 인도 아래 비밀스럽고도 거룩한 여정을 시작한다.
