Description
Samuel confronts the people by recounting Israel’s history: the LORD raised up Moses and Aaron, delivered their ancestors from Egypt, and repeatedly rescued them when they cried out after falling into sin and idolatry. As he speaks, he reminds them that even when enemies like Sisera, the Philistines, Moab, and Nahash threatened them, it was the LORD who saved them. Yet despite this history of divine kingship and mercy, the people demanded a human king.
