1 Kings 3 (vv. 1-3)

At the beginning of his reign, Solomon strengthens his kingdom through a political alliance with Pharaoh of Egypt by marrying Pharaoh’s daughter. She is brought into the City of David while Jerusalem is still in a transitional stage, with the palace, the temple of the LORD, and the city wall not yet completed. The scene captures both royal splendor and spiritual tension: Solomon loves the LORD and walks in David’s ways, yet the people still worship at high places because no central temple has yet been built.
