1 Kings 21 (vv. 9-14)

The elders proclaim a fast and seat Naboth in a place of honor before the people, creating the appearance of public righteousness. Two corrupt witnesses rise against him, accusing him of cursing God and the king. The scene emphasizes the tragic misuse of justice: a solemn civic gathering becomes the stage for lies, and Naboth is led outside the city to his death.

장로들은 금식일을 선포하고 나봇을 백성 앞 높은 자리에 앉혀 마치 공의로운 공적 의식을 행하는 것처럼 꾸민다. 그러나 두 불량한 증인이 일어나 나봇이 하나님과 왕을 저주했다고 거짓으로 고발한다. 이 장면은 정의의 비극적인 왜곡을 보여 준다. 엄숙한 공동체의 모임이 거짓의 무대가 되고, 나봇은 성 밖으로 끌려가 죽임을 당한다.
