Description
After destroying the house of Baasha in fulfillment of prophetic judgment, Zimri’s own reign lasts only seven days. When Omri and the army lay siege to Tirzah and the city is taken, Zimri retreats into the citadel of the royal palace. Rather than surrender, he sets the palace ablaze around himself and perishes in the fire. The scene is one of desperation, divine irony, and the swift collapse of human ambition.
