Description
King Elah, son of Baasha, spends his brief reign in carelessness and indulgence. In the house of Arza, the palace administrator at Tirzah, he is drunk and unaware of the danger closing in around him. Zimri, commander of half the chariots, enters with hidden resolve and strikes down the king, seizing the throne.
